Big Story: ONC’s Namyalo Announces A Ramadan Feast For All Museveni’s Bazzukulu, To Feed Thousands Of Muslims In Kampala Street Iftar

By Frank Kamuntu

The Office of the National Chairman (ONC), under the leadership of Special Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs (SPA/PA) Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, is set to host a grand street Iftar for fasting Muslims and non-muslims in downtown Kampala on Thursday, March 20, 2025, starting at 3:00 PM.

Speaking at a press conference held at her offices in Kyambogo, Hajjat Namyalo confirmed that the event, which falls during the Holy Month of Ramadan, aims to bring together hundreds of fasting Muslims for a communal Iftar. The initiative is part of ONC’s continued efforts to support the Muslim community during this sacred period.

“We are creating an opportunity for people from all walks of life to come together, share a meal, and gain knowledge. This has been done in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, but now it is coming to Kampala,” she stated.

Hajjat Namyalo emphasized that Ramadan is a time for reflection, prayer, and unity, and the ONC is honored to host this event.

“This Street Iftar is free, open to all, and non-partisan, with the primary focus on fostering a sense of togetherness and spirituality among Muslims and non-Muslims alike,” she added.

The street Iftar, organized under the theme “Abaavu Tweyambe” (Let’s Help the Less Fortunate), will take place along Buganda Road and City Square, extending to the Central Police Station (CPS), which will serve as the central hub. Multiple food stations will be set up to ensure efficient service to attendees.

According to Hajjat Namyalo, the initiative is particularly aimed at supporting the less fortunate, ensuring that those who struggle to access adequate food during Ramadan can still partake in a fulfilling Iftar.

“All stakeholders who have come on board are welcome. Let us all unite, regardless of our political beliefs, because poverty knows no colors. All Bazzukulu are welcome,” she noted.

To ensure a smooth and successful event, the ONC has partnered with Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Uganda Police, and various mosques across Kampala. Security and logistical arrangements have been finalized, with Uganda Police pledging support in traffic management and crowd control to maintain safety throughout the event.

Beyond the Street Iftar, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo has been actively leading relief distribution campaigns to support fasting Muslims across Kampala.

Last week, her team distributed food relief at several mosques, including:
✅ Masjid Katangawuzi in Nansana
✅ Masjid Taqwa in Kakiri
✅ Masjid Saeed Al Majdour in Kasangati

The relief packages included rice, posho, spaghetti, sugar, beans, cooking oil, and milk, ensuring that families observing Ramadan have enough food to break their fasts.

As the ONC’s Street Iftar approaches, Hajjat Namyalo has urged members of the public, corporate entities, and well-wishers to join hands in supporting this noble cause, reinforcing the spirit of compassion, unity, and faith during the holy month.
