Kyeswa Roars: Time For NRM Youth To Seize Power As Museveni Calls National Party Conference

By Frank Kamuntu

With the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) set to host its monumental 4th National Conference from August 27–28, 2025, at Kololo Independence Grounds, party dynamics are shifting—and the youth are on high alert.

Incoming Central Region Vice Chairman and CEC Member Hakim Kyeswa has lit a fire under the party’s youthful base, calling on young NRM members to rise above political inertia and claim their rightful place in shaping the party’s destiny. His rallying cry—circulating under the bold slogan “Nothing for Us Without Us”—has gone viral across NRM-affiliated platforms.

“This is about the soul of our party,” Kyeswa thundered. “Not short-term positions, but the long-term vision for the NRM. The future of this movement begins now—and we, especially the youth, must not sit back and let it be decided without us.”

In an impassioned warning against complacency, bribery, and factionalism, Kyeswa urged delegates to vote consciously and uphold the principles of unity, generational inclusion, and visionary leadership.

“Let no bribes or manipulation fracture our resolve,” he cautioned. “The true prize is the future of NRM. We must elect leaders committed to progress and the generational cause.”

His remarks come at a time when calls for generational transition within the NRM are growing louder, with young leaders across Uganda demanding seats at the decision-making table. Kyeswa’s message appears to echo the frustration of many who feel the movement’s next chapter must reflect the voices of a rising youthful majority.

The high-stakes Kololo Conference will draw thousands of delegates from across the country to vote on top-tier Central Executive Committee (CEC) positions, including:

  • National Chairperson
  • Regional Vice Chairpersons
  • Two National Vice Chairpersons (one reserved for a woman)

Most critically, the conference will adopt the party’s presidential flag bearer for the 2026 general elections.

In a formal notice dated July 26, 2025, NRM National Chairman President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni emphasized the gravity of the upcoming assembly. Delegates will review key reports, vote on new leadership, and pass critical resolutions—including the official endorsement of the party’s 2026 presidential candidate.

The conference will close with a national address from the elected flag bearer, a moment expected to set the tone for NRM’s next electoral battle.

As Kyeswa rallies the next generation, all eyes now turn to Kololo—where the future of Uganda’s dominant political force may well be redrawn.
