Police On Accident That Kalangwa: Toyota Hilux Rolled Multiple Times After Smashing Motorcycle

A tragic road accident along the Kayunga–Jinja Road in Kayunga District has left one person dead and three others injured following a violent collision involving a Toyota Hilux and a motorcycle.
According to a police statement, the fatal crash occurred at Suuka near the Lake Oil Petrol Station at around 9:00 PM on the night of May 17, 2026.
The accident involved a Toyota Hilux registration number UG 0101 151 and an unidentified motorcycle whose rider was reportedly attempting to join the main road at the time of the incident.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the Toyota Hilux was travelling from Kayunga towards Jinja when it collided with the motorcyclist. Following the impact, the driver is said to have lost control of the vehicle, which overturned several times.
Police said three passengers sustained injuries in the crash, including Mr. Kalangwa Kalisa Moses, who suffered critical wounds.
The injured victims were rushed to Kayunga Regional Referral Hospital for emergency medical treatment. However, due to the severity of his injuries, Mr. Kalangwa was later referred to Nakasero Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities have since launched investigations into the exact cause of the crash as efforts to identify the motorcyclist continue.
The latest accident adds to the growing concern over road safety on major highways, particularly during night travel, with police once again urging motorists and riders to exercise caution and strictly observe traffic regulations.
