UCAA Reports Fire Outbreak At Entebbe Airport, Property Worth Millions Smashed!

On 13th September 2023 Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) reported fire incident that occurred at one of the stores of DAS Handling Ltd a ground handling service provider based at Entebbe International Airport.

According to UCAA, the building that caught fire is outside the airport.

”Upon the occurrence of this incident the fire fighters were contacted and responded immediately. We are currently working with the relevant authorities to suppress the fire and investigations into the cause of this incident are underway,” reads a statement shared by UCAA inked by DAS.

The spokesperson of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, Vianney Luggya, is quoted by the media as saying that the fire happened during the night of Tuesday and that investigations about the real cause of the fire were being carried out.

“The fire that gutted the airport happened in the night on Tuesday, September 13, 2023. The exact cause of the fire will be investigated. Warehouses belonging to both the DAS Handlers Agency and the National Medical Store were the most affected. National Medical Stores lost mosquito nets. We will get to the heart of the cause of this fire. DAS is one of the ground handlers operating at the airport, with offices adjacent to the Protea Hotel, outside the airport’s perimeter fence,” Luggya is quoted to have said.
