President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is scheduled to address the nation on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in a televised broadcast on matters described by State House as being of “national importance.”
The announcement was made on Wednesday in a statement issued by the Presidential Press Unit (PPU).
According to the statement, the President’s address will begin at 8:00 p.m. and will be carried live on all major radio and television stations, as well as online platforms across the country.
“The Presidential Press Unit (PPU) wishes to inform the general public that H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, will address the nation on Saturday, 4th July 2026, at 8:00 p.m. on matters of national importance,” the statement reads.
The PPU encouraged Ugandans to tune in to the live broadcast.
The announcement comes at a time of heightened public interest following a series of significant national developments, including the recent shutdown of several Nation Media Group outlets, the arrest and prosecution of veteran politician Miria Matembe, and ongoing political and governance debates ahead of the country’s next electoral cycle.
However, State House did not disclose the specific issues the President intends to address.
President Museveni regularly delivers national addresses on matters relating to security, governance, the economy, public health, and other issues affecting the country.
Saturday’s address is expected to attract widespread attention as Ugandans await clarification on the issues to be discussed.
