By Frank Kamuntu

Uganda Manufactures Association (UMA) Executive Director, Mr.Ezra Muhumuza Rubanda has confirmed that HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will grace the 29th Uganda International Trade Fair and open it officially on 5th October 2023, Swift Daily News reports exclusively.

Mr. Muhumuza said the Trade Fair will kick off on October 3rd and will be officially closed on the 10th at the UMA Lugogo Show Grounds in Kampala, by the East African Community General Secretary Peter Mathuki.

Mr. Muhumuza revealed that this year’s theme will be; ‘Driving manufacturing and trade efficiency through digital transformation and innovation’.

He revealed the secret behind the above-mentioned theme; saying that this year their focus is on showcasing technological advancements and innovative practices shaping the global landscape of manufacturing and trade.

Mr. Muhumuza also revealed that over 1000 local and international exhibitors will participate in the week-long trade exhibition that will host representatives from 30 countries, including South Africa, India, South Korea, Lebanon, Iran, Pakistan, and China, among others.

“For now, our people should know that all our space is already taken. No more bookings, and we want all traders/exhibitors to know that we shall not allow anyone to subrent space to those who missed booking in time. We won’t tolerate back door deals,” said Mr. Muhumuza before he called upon all Ugandans to come in large numbers and exchange ideas with international business moguls.

How The Trade Fair Is Organized

According to Mr. Muhumuza, they have zoned categories of exhibitors; big, medium and SMEs manufacturers.

He said they will have an agricultural zone, technology, fast-moving consumer goods, electronics, business service agencies, an education pavilion, and a children’s park all meant to give participants easy access to the services.

On entrance fee, he said they will be selling tickets at 10k and gates will be opening at 8am.

“Last year, we showcased how technology has taken us to the level of making buses, now this year we want to exhibit products that are ready to be on the market and some of these products are chargeable motorcycles,” said Mr.Muhumuza.

Uniqueness

The organizers say this year they have introduced the Black Friday concept, whereby manufacturers and traders that have products in abundance will be selling them at a discount of 60% from 6th to 10th October.

On the side of security, Kampala Metropolitan Traffic Director Commander SSP Gordon Arinaitwe said that traffic will be normal but cautioned participants to follow rules and regulations.

“We shall have 24-hour deployment. Also, we want to inform our people that we shall have two parking spaces one at Phillip Omondi and Nakawa at KCCA,” said Arinaitwe.

He added that participants will be entering via a northern gate and exiting at the main gate.

Meanwhile, a couple of sponsors have boosted this year’s trade fair and among these include; Private Sector Foundation Uganda, Uganda Insurance Association, Uganda Breweries, Tembo Steels, Uganda Baati, Total Energies and many others.
