Ugandan singer Jose Chameleone’s 20-year-old son, Abba Marcus Mayanja, has been arrested in Minnesota, United States, over an alleged domestic assault, shortly after publicly announcing the end of his relationship with his pregnant girlfriend.

Mayanja was booked by Edina Police on August 14, 2026, according to booking information published by Minneapolis Safety and Crime Alerts.

He faces a misdemeanor domestic assault charge relating to an alleged act intended to cause fear of immediate bodily harm or death.

According to the booking information, Mayanja was still in custody at the time of publication, with bail or bond set at $10,000.

The arrest came hours after Mayanja took to his verified Instagram account to announce that he had ended his relationship with his girlfriend, whom Ugandan entertainment reports have identified as Angel.

In a series of posts, Mayanja accused his former partner of being abusive and cheating on him, while suggesting that tensions had built up over time.

“Finally done w this abusive ass girl,” Mayanja wrote in one of the posts.

In another post, he appeared to accuse his girlfriend of deliberately provoking him and suggested that his reactions had been in response to what he described as repeated provocation.

He also claimed that people close to him knew him as a peaceful person and accused his girlfriend of learning what upset him before using those issues against him.

However, Mayanja’s social media posts did not provide specific details about the incident that resulted in his arrest.

It also remains unclear from the available booking information whether his girlfriend was the complainant in the domestic assault case.

Pregnant Girlfriend

The arrest comes months after Mayanja and Angel publicly revealed that they were expecting their first child.

The couple had shared aspects of their relationship on social media, including videos showing Angel’s pregnancy. Reports in April indicated that she was approximately 19 weeks pregnant at the time.

The pregnancy had attracted significant attention in Uganda, particularly because it would make veteran musician Jose Chameleone a grandfather for the first time.

Mayanja is the eldest son of Chameleone and his former wife, Daniella Atim. The couple have five children together.

Chameleone and Atim’s marriage ended following years of publicly reported marital difficulties, after which Atim settled in the United States with their children.

Mayanja has in recent years developed his own following on social media, where he has occasionally spoken openly about his family, relationships and personal experiences.
