The Tooro Kingdom has confirmed that King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV is in critical condition, breaking its silence following reports that the 34-year-old monarch had died while receiving treatment abroad.

In a brief statement issued through the Prime Minister’s Office on Thursday evening, the Kingdom appealed to the people of Tooro and friends of the kingdom to pray for the monarch.

“This is to inform you that King Oyo is currently in a critical condition,” the statement reads.

“At this difficult time, we humbly ask the people of Tooro and our friends to keep His Majesty in your prayers.”
