Double Win: Victoria University Bags 6 Awards At Inter-University Media Challenge, Announced 2nd Runners-Up In Ultimate University Quiz

Victoria University (VU Kampala) is shutting the curtains of 2023 in a thrilling style after registering a powerful performance at the Ugandan Inter-University Media Challenge, proudly organized by the Media Challenge Initiative (MCI).

MCI is a youth-driven non-profit organization aiming at building the next generation of journalists in Africa through training, mentorship and experiential peer-to-peer learning.

The competitions held annually saw Victoria University students bag 5 out of the total 12 awards scooped from all the categories.

The awards won by VU students include:

  • Best Producer, English News
  • Best English Public Service Reporter
  • Best Luganda Public Service Reporter
  • Best English Migration Reporter
  • Best English Gender Reporter and
  • Outstanding In Photography 2023 award that was scooped by NBS TV’s Francis Isaano, a proud journalism student of Victoria University.

Commenting on the above victory, Victoria University Vice Chancellor Prof Lawrence Muganga noted this is another testament showing their commitment to driving their students into the brighter future they have always dreamt about.

In another exciting news, the same University scooped Ugx10m worth of equipment, smartphones and other juicy prices after being announced as the 2nd Runners-Up in the Ultimate University Challenge that brought together all the country’s 16 chartered Universities. These competitions were organized by New Vision and Bank of Uganda.

Muganga didn’t forget to thank all VU supporters for their unwavering encouragement.
