Bushenyi’s Parental Care Primary School Does It Again! Gets 89 1st Grades & One Candidate In Div Two

For years, parental Care Nursery & Primary School has always been among the best not only in western Uganda but across the country.

It was not different for this year’s Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) where the school registered ninety candidates and of those, 89 got first grades and one candidate Asiimwe Medluck got second grade with 12 aggregates meaning he missed just one aggregate to make a first grade.

The school’s best candidate Ainembabazi Irene 5 aggregates, 14 candidates got 6 aggregates, 18 candidates got 7 aggregates, 20 got 8 aggregates, 14 got 9 aggregates, 10 got 10 aggregates and 3 got 11 aggregates.

The school’s director Mr Yebazamukama Trevor thanked the school’s administration and parents for good cooperation that yielded 100% success of the candidates, noting that this is always a combined effort as the school can’t make it alone without the support of the parents.

”Congratulations, to the candidates, parents, teachers, administration and director of Parental Care Nursery and Primary School up on this excellent performance of 100% grade one,” inked My Trevor in a brief congratulatory message.

Releasing the exams yesterday, the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) announced that the number of candidates who scored in Divisions One and Two in the 2023 exams has seen a slight decrease compared to the previous year.

However, UNEB Executive Director Daniel Odong highlighted a positive trend, noting an increase in the number of candidates achieving Division 3 and above compared to 2022 results. Overall, Mr. Odong reported that the pass rate remains consistent with last year, at 88.0%.

“A higher proportion of the 2023 candidates passed in Division 3 and above level. Overall, the performance of candidates is comparable to that of 2022,” Mr Odogo said.

Encouragingly, the examination body also registered a decline in the number of ungraded candidates in the 2023 PLE results.

“Division U (Ungraded) is awarded to candidates who have failed to reach the minimum level of performance that can be awarded at least a Division 4 They are not eligible for admission to the Senior 1 class. It should be noted that the number of candidates in Division U is quite high, at 88,269 (10.4%) and should raise concern so that they do not just add to the statistics of school drop-outs,” he said on Thursday.
