UCE 2023 Results: Naalya Schools In Top Rankings Of Best Performers

Naalya Secondary school, Namugongo, and its sister schools; Naalya SS, Bweyogerere, and Naalya SS, Lugazi; are among the country’s top schools in this year’s Uganda Certificate of Education results which were released by the First Lady and Education Minister Mrs. Janet Museveni.

In a remarkable display of academic excellence, Naalya Schools have once again proven their status as leading educational institutions in Uganda.

Naalya SS Namugongo distinguished itself as the 16th-best school in the country out of 3,808 schools and examination centres, an impressive feat.

With 267 candidates sitting for the UCE, an overwhelming majority achieved Division One results, with a commendable 98.5% success rate, positioning the school prominently in national rankings.

Located in Kyaddondo county, within the serene environs of Kyaliwajala parish, Kira town council in the Wakiso district, the school is a beacon of excellence, approximately 12km from the heart of Kampala along Jinja Road.

Not to be outdone, Naalya SS Bweyogerere showcased its academic prowess with 152 students sitting for the UCE, the majority of whom secured Division One grades. This achievement earned the school a notable place in the national rankings, reflecting a 89.5% success rate. The school’s commitment to excellence is evident in its strategic location a few miles away from its sister school in Bweyogerere, further strengthening the Naalya brand’s reputation for quality education.

Naalya SS Lugazi, the third in this triumvirate of academic distinction, saw 269 of its students taking the UCE, with half the class, achieving Division One grades. This solid performance placed the school in the 278th position nationwide, showcasing the breadth and depth of the Naalya Schools’ educational quality and their commitment to fostering academic excellence across a broad spectrum of students.

The Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) executive secretary, Dan Odongo, provided a broader context for these achievements, noting a 4.3% increase in candidature from the previous year, with a total of 364,469 candidates sitting for the exams from 3,808 examination centres. This year’s results underscore the ongoing trend of balanced gender participation, with a slight increase in female candidates over males, reflecting the inclusive educational policies that Uganda has been championing.

Special attention was also given to Special Needs Education (SNE) candidates, with the board making commendable arrangements to accommodate their needs, including modifications of questions, provision of Braille-written questions, support personnel, and sign language interpreters, among other aids. This inclusivity underscores the comprehensive approach to education that Uganda is taking, ensuring that every child has the opportunity for academic achievement.

The remarkable performance of Naalya Schools in this year’s UCE results not only highlights the institutions’ unwavering commitment to academic excellence but also serves as a beacon of inspiration for schools across Uganda.
