End Of 40 Days: Three Armed Thieves Stoned To Death In Makindye, Angry Mob Shares 20m Stolen Funds

Police in Katwe are actively investigating an incident involving aggravated robbery and murder that occurred on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at around 6 pm in Ndejje Kibutika Village, Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality, Wakiso District.

According to preliminary investigations, employees of Shana Distributors Ltd, Kikuubo, namely Galabuzi Haruna (driver), Babirye Patricia (salesperson), and Mfitumukiza Henry (offloader), were ambushed by armed assailants during their routine product distribution.

The assailants demanded money before resorting to violence when the workers hesitated to hand over the cash.

Police state that the assailants shot Babirye Patricia in the leg, subsequently taking a substantial amount of money, Shs20 million, from the vehicle.

The criminals are said to have fled the scene on a motorcycle with registration UES 820K. However, the victims raised an alarm, attracting locals who pursued the armed thugs.

It is reported that the robbers abandoned the motorcycle.

“A group of residents and riders in Namasuba apprehended the suspects, resulting in a confrontation. Two suspects succumbed to injuries at the scene, while another passed away upon arrival at Mulago Hospital,” said the police.

The deceased have been identified as Bakka Mark and Ssemanda Brain. The police have recovered identification and voter cards from the bodies, and the alleged robbery weapon has been secured as evidence.

The police say the stolen cash has not been recovered, as it is believed to have been taken by members of the public.

The injured victims are receiving medical attention, and detailed statements on the incident have been documented.
