In a passionate and forward-looking manifesto, Hon. Kyanika Rehema has officially declared her candidacy for the position of National Chairperson of the NRM Women’s League, unveiling a bold vision to empower women and strengthen Uganda’s socio-political fabric from the grassroots up.

Under the theme “Empowering Women, Strengthening the Nation”, Rehema’s campaign is rooted in values of patriotism, pan-Africanism, democracy, and socio-economic transformation — principles she believes define the spirit of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

“This is a moment to rewrite the story of women’s leadership,” Rehema said. “I offer myself with humility and a clear vision to uplift the lives of women across our great country.”

A Vision For Inclusive & Empowered Leadership

Rehema’s vision is to build a vibrant, united, and empowered NRM Women’s League that serves as the voice and strength of every Ugandan woman — from the village level to national leadership. She emphasizes unity and inclusion, promising a leadership style rooted in solidarity and shared progress.

Her mission is centered on enhancing women’s participation in governance and decision-making, while driving transformative development through established NRM structures.

Key Pillars Of Her Manifesto

Rehema’s manifesto outlines five core objectives:

  1. Women’s Economic Empowerment
    • Increased access to government initiatives like PDM, Emyooga, and UWEP.
    • Strengthening SACCOs and cooperatives.
    • Promoting vocational skills and financial literacy.
  2. Strengthening League Structures
    • Establishment of active women’s committees from village to national levels.
    • Mentorship and leadership engagement.
    • Improved coordination and communication within the league.
  3. Unity and Inclusion
    • Championing women of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
    • Promoting harmony and community-based leadership.
    • Inclusion of youth and marginalized groups.
  4. Political Mobilization and Civic Education
    • Encouraging women’s participation in party and national programs.
    • Civic education on leadership, voting, and NRM principles.
    • Strengthening ideological grounding for cadres.
  5. Health, Rights, and Social Well-being
    • Advocacy for maternal health, dignity, and access to care.
    • Tackling gender-based violence and supporting girl-child education.

Her Pledge To Women

Hon. Rehema pledges to listen, serve with integrity, and be a bridge between government programs and grassroots women. She promises to rejuvenate the Women’s League into a powerful platform for advocacy and change.

Her campaign is anchored in the African philosophy of Ubuntu, expressed in her slogan: “I am because you are – Together we can!”

“This is more than a slogan,” Rehema explains. “It’s a call to unity, service, and shared success. I urge every woman and comrade in the NRM to walk with me as we write a new chapter for the Women’s League.”
