Victoria University has officially launched the “20 Years of Pastor Wilson Bugembe Music” mega concert, a landmark celebration of the gospel icon’s two-decade journey in ministry and music. The event, held today at the university auditorium, was attended by over 1,000 new students for the July-August intake and featured a powerful personal testimony from Bugembe himself.

The much-anticipated concert is scheduled for August 8, 2025, at the luxurious Kampala Serena Hotel.

  • Date: August 8, 2025
  • Venue: Kampala Serena Hotel
  • Fee: UGX 120,000 (early bird) via MTN MoMo App or dial 16520#
  • Table: UGX 3,000,000

Bugembe, who was welcomed like a king by the excited student audience, thanked Victoria University and MTN Uganda for being the first to sponsor his milestone concert.

“This is the very first time a university is backing my concert—and not just any university, but one that’s transforming lives,” Bugembe said. “How can I thank Prof. Muganga enough? He has taken in five children from my orphanage on full bursaries—I don’t pay a single coin. That’s a heart for God and for the future.”

In a deeply emotional moment, Bugembe shared how he lost both his parents and ended up living on the streets of Kampala. His life changed after meeting a stranger along Kampala Road who took him to a church, where a one Steven Mbogo offered to take care of him. A special church offering was raised for Bugembe, which helped him get basic items like a mattress and clothes.

Today, Pastor Bugembe leads The Worship House in Nansana and runs Mercy Child Care Centre in Wakiso, offering hope and shelter to orphaned children—just like he once was.

Victoria University Vice Chancellor Prof. Lawrence Muganga praised Bugembe as “one of the most inspiring Ugandans of our time” and welcomed the university’s new cohort of students with a challenge to dream big and lead lives of impact.

“We’re not here to fill your heads with notes and leave you empty-handed after graduation,” Muganga said. “You study for only 15 hours a week—use the rest of your time to build something meaningful, solve problems, and change lives.”

He added that the university is offering laptops to students on a three-year loan basis and encouraged a complete shift from notebooks and pens to smart devices. “This is a digital university—we expect all our students to use smartphones or laptops. This is the world we live in.”

Muganga also urged students to tap into the power of the internet and AI to create income streams and build careers beyond the classroom.

As the event concluded, Bugembe invited students to sing along to his popular gospel hits. Those who impressed won free tickets to the upcoming concert.

With the full backing of Victoria University and MTN, the August 8 mega concert at Kampala Serena Hotel promises to be a night of celebration, testimony, and praise—honoring 20 years of music, ministry, and miracles.
