A political wave is sweeping through Western Uganda, and at its center is one man — Tuhaise Prosper Kururagire, the indefatigable Mbarara District NRM Chairman whose tireless mobilization is bringing thousands, including staunch former opposition supporters, back into President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s camp.
Over the past months, Kururagire has turned the region’s political landscape into a sea of yellow, moving from town to town, village to village, delivering a message that resonates deeply with ordinary citizens: President Museveni remains the most capable and tested leader for Uganda’s future.
Armed with both words and deeds, Kururagire has harnessed every available platform — from fiery, conviction-filled radio talk shows to face-to-face community engagements — to dismantle opposition narratives and present a compelling case for the NRM. His approach has been as strategic as it has been personal, targeting the youth, women, traders, and even hardened critics of the ruling party.
The results have been remarkable. Former opposition members are publicly declaring their renewed trust in the President. “After listening to Prosper’s advice, I realized no leader in the opposition is better than President Museveni,” one converted supporter admitted in Mbarara, echoing the sentiments of many others.
But Kururagire’s influence is not built on rhetoric alone — it is anchored in tangible action. Known as one of Western Uganda’s wealthiest businessmen, with an expansive portfolio that includes the renowned Bunga Bet brand, he has funneled his personal fortune into empowering the youth, funding community development projects, and strengthening NRM structures.
In a move that stunned even his political rivals, Kururagire singlehandedly financed the construction of a modern, fully-equipped NRM office in Mbarara City — a multi-million shilling facility that now serves as the beating heart of the party’s 2026 election strategy.
His dedication is unwavering. “I will not stop mobilizing until President Museveni wins in 2026,” Kururagire vowed. “We are still bringing more people to the NRM because our message is clear — President Museveni is the father of Uganda’s transformation and stability.”
Today, Kururagire stands as more than just a district chairman. He is the engine of Museveni’s Western Uganda campaign, a political powerhouse whose combination of grassroots charm, financial strength, and relentless determination is reshaping loyalties and making it increasingly difficult for the opposition to find traction in the region.
With every new rally, every voice won over, and every handshake sealed, the 2026 race in Western Uganda is looking less like a contest — and more like a homecoming for the NRM.
