Breaking: NRM Electoral Commission Disqualifies Nakku Fiona From Female Youth MP Race Over Age Concerns

By Our Reporter
The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission has officially disqualified Ms. Nakku Fiona from contesting for the position of National Female Youth Member of Parliament flag bearer, citing age-related ineligibility, Swift News reports exclusively.
In a letter dated 18th August 2025 and signed by the NRM Electoral Commission Chairman, Dr. Tanga Odoi, the party communicated that the decision followed a complaint lodged against Ms. Nakku by several individuals, most prominently Mr. Amanya Aaron through ABNO Advocates. This has further been confirmed by Dr. Tanga himself in a phone call conversation with Swift News, edtorial team.

According to the letter, the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) formally wrote to the Rt. Hon. NRM Secretary General confirming that Ms. Nakku does not meet the required age threshold to contest for the youth slot at the national level under the National Youth Council framework.
“Following the said advice, the NRM Electoral Commission is legally obligated to de-nominate you for the position of National Female Youth MP Flag Bearer as you do not qualify to be nominated at the National level based on your age,” the letter reads in part.
The Commission further declared that Ms. Nakku shall not be a contestant in the forthcoming elections for the position of National Female Youth MP flag bearer.
This development comes amid heightened scrutiny within the ruling party’s primary election processes, where complaints and petitions against candidates have been rampant. The ruling effectively knocks Ms. Nakku out of contention, narrowing the race as the NRM prepares to front its flag bearers for various youth leadership positions.
The disqualification has already triggered debate among political observers and youth delegates, with some raising questions about the consistency of candidate vetting processes within the party.
Ms. Nakku had positioned herself as a strong contender in the race, garnering noticeable grassroots mobilization and support before the Electoral Commission’s intervention sealed her fate.
