In a defiant and emotionally charged declaration, Hon. Fiona Nakku, popularly known as “The Unbwogable,” has vowed that she ramains in the race for National Female Youth Member of Parliament, despite a dramatic announcement by the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission disqualifying her from the contest.
Addressing a passionate group of loyal delegates at a dinner gathering in Nansana this evening, Nakku confidently reassured her supporters that no amount of propaganda or political machinations would deter her.
“Only God can kick me out of this race! Not individuals with selfish agendas hiding behind technicalities,” Nakku declared, receiving a roaring ovation from her steadfast backers.
The event, which was meant to reflect on Nakku’s candidacy and galvanize morale among her team, quickly turned into a powerful show of solidarity. Delegates in attendance openly dismissed the disqualification and pledged unwavering loyalty, with some vowing to confront anyone trying to “stand in the way” of their candidate.
Earlier in the day, the NRM Electoral Commission, in a letter signed by Chairman Dr. Tanga Odoi and dated 18th August 2025, officially communicated Nakku’s disqualification from the party primaries. The Commission cited age ineligibility based on a complaint filed by Mr. Amanya Aaron, through ABNO Advocates, and verified by the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA).
According to the letter, NIRA confirmed that Nakku does not meet the age requirement to vie for a youth position under the National Youth Council structure, thus rendering her ineligible for nomination as the party flag bearer.
“Following the said advice, the NRM Electoral Commission is legally obligated to de-nominate you… You do not qualify to be nominated at the National level based on your age,” the letter read in part.
Supporters Spit Venom
The Commission’s decision has stirred significant unrest among Nakku’s supporters, who see the move as politically motivated and unfair.
“This is a witch hunt. Fiona has the support. She has the energy. And now that her opponents have failed to beat her on the ground, they are hiding behind age issues,” said one delegate, visibly angered by the announcement.
Several political analysts have also weighed in, questioning the timing of the complaint and the transparency of the vetting process. Some argue that such decisions damage the credibility of the party’s internal democratic systems, especially when applied selectively.
Nakku Not Backing Down
Despite the setback, Nakku’s stance remains unshaken. Calling for clean politics and a “healthy, issues-based competition,” she slammed her opponents for resorting to blackmail and character assassination.
“I came into this race to serve the youth, not to play cheap political games. My mission hasn’t changed. I will fight on, not just for myself but for every young woman who dares to dream,” she emphasized.
While her legal options remain unclear, insiders say Nakku is considering a formal appeal and might take her case to court or seek internal party redress.
With her disqualification throwing the race wide open, the NRM is expected to proceed with a new list of candidates for the National Female Youth MP flag bearer position. However, with tensions rising and supporters mobilizing, this saga is far from over.
