Prosper Kururagire, the influential National Resistance Movement (NRM) chairman for Mbarara District, has declared that President Yoweri Museveni is destined for a landslide victory in the forthcoming general elections, projecting nothing less than “over 99%” support nationwide.
Speaking yesterday at a strategic planning meeting held at the NRM headquarters in Kampala ahead of the National Delegates Conference, Kururagire said his confidence stems from the overwhelming mobilization in western Uganda and assurances from fellow district chairpersons across the country.
“In western Uganda, every single vote belongs to Museveni. But I am not stopping there — I will use my networks in other regions to deliver even more support for our President,” Kururagire emphasized.

Kururagire, a wealthy businessman who famously built the NRM office in Mbarara using his personal funds, has increasingly become one of the most visible grassroots mobilizers for Museveni. At the Kampala meeting, he used his platform not only to assess the political terrain but also to fire a warning shot at the opposition.
He branded opposition parties as “peace distractors”, vowing to block any attempt to “confuse Museveni’s people in western Uganda.”
Riding On Museveni’s New Campaign Slogan
Kururagire further rallied delegates around the President’s new campaign slogan: “Protecting the Gains as We Make a Qualitative Leap into a High Middle-Income Status.”
He argued that Uganda’s progress under Museveni is undeniable and urged critics to instead join hands in safeguarding these achievements.
“No opposition can do what Museveni has done,” he said. “They should stop fighting him and instead focus on protecting the gains so that Ugandan families can finally elevate into middle-income status.”
With the National Delegates Conference around the corner, Prosper Kururagire’s bold remarks have set the tone for what is expected to be a spirited show of strength by the ruling party.
