The Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs and Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Manager, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, on Saturday electrified Sironko District with a massive empowerment outreach that combined wealth creation, political mobilisation, and dramatic defections from the opposition.
Joined by Sironko District Woman MP Hon. Asha Nabulo Mafabi and a strong team of NRM leaders, Hajjat Namyalo presided over a high-energy event at Sironko High School Playgrounds, drawing thousands of residents from across the Elgon sub-region.
The outreach featured the distribution of start-up tools aimed at boosting household incomes, including welding machines, sewing machines, hair dryers, popcorn machines, and other income-generating equipment, all provided free of charge under the ONC’s nationwide wealth-creation campaign.
In a dramatic political twist, Hajjat Namyalo officially received a group of defectors from the National Unity Platform (NUP), who publicly renounced the opposition and pledged allegiance to the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Among the defectors were prominent local councilors Nangweri Emma and Nyole Bright, along with several grassroots leaders, who said they had lost faith in the opposition’s ability to deliver meaningful services. Their declaration was met with thunderous cheers from the crowd.
Addressing the charged gathering, Hajjat Namyalo urged residents to consolidate their support for the NRM and reject leaders she described as “loud but unproductive.”
“You cannot expect someone who abuses government every day to lobby for your schools, roads, or jobs. Their role is to fight government initiatives and tarnish its image. But at the end of the day, he still earns a salary from the same government he insults—while you, the ordinary people, are the ones who lose out,” she said.
The Deputy NRM District Chairperson applauded President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for fulfilling key pledges in Sironko, citing the Late Nakapulo Memorial Project, women’s emancipation programs, tarmacking of major roads, and the construction of seed secondary schools in every sub-county as evidence of government’s service delivery.
The event attracted the district NRM executive and flag bearers from all 43 sub-counties, underscoring the party’s growing grassroots strength.
Sironkо Town Council NRM Chairperson Mr. Abdallah Diffe thanked Hajjat Namyalo for the empowerment drive and urged voters to rally behind the ruling party.
Budadiri West NRM flag bearer Kidasi Masaba Isaac hailed Namyalo and Hon. Nabulo for equipping residents with tools to raise incomes and fight poverty.
The day climaxed in a festive atmosphere, with top Ugandan artists including Gravity Omutujju, Lil Pazo Lunabe, San Cee, and local Elgon talent thrilling the jubilant crowd.
By nightfall, Sironko had transformed into a hub of political celebration, blending service delivery, wealth creation, and strategic defections into a single historic gathering.
