President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has pledged a sweeping transformation of Apac District’s health sector, promising new facilities, upgrades, and critical equipment as part of his government’s next term development agenda.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Apac on Friday, the President lauded his government’s achievements in expanding health services across the district, revealing that of the 12 sub-counties, 10 already have fully operational health centers, with one boasting a government hospital. Only two sub-counties remain without any health facility.

To close this service gap, Museveni unveiled a comprehensive health package tailored for Apac. Under the plan, Akere Health Centre II will be upgraded to Health Centre III, while a new Health Centre III will be constructed in Atik. Additionally, in Maruzi Constituency, the existing Health Centre IV—already staffed with two doctors—will receive an ambulance to strengthen emergency response.

The President further disclosed that Atongtidi Health Centre III in Maruzi North would be elevated to a Health Centre IV in the next term, signaling his administration’s commitment to extending essential medical services deeper into rural communities.

“In Akere Division, the Health Centre II will be upgraded to a Health Centre III. In Atik, a new Health Centre III will be built. In Maruzi, the Health Centre IV already has doctors but no ambulance. We shall provide that ambulance. And in Maruzi North, Atongtidi will be upgraded to a Health Centre IV,” Museveni stated.

He emphasized that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government had already laid a strong foundation for improved social services despite past challenges, citing the revival of Uganda’s economy and sustained expansion of infrastructure since 1986.

Museveni also highlighted that anticipated oil revenues—expected to start flowing next year—would provide government with sufficient resources to implement development projects like those in Apac without diverting funds from other sectors.

“With this oil money, we shall be able to do all these roads and health facilities without having to cut from one project to do another,” he assured the cheering crowd.

The President urged the people of Apac to re-elect him and the NRM government to consolidate the gains already made, saying the proposed investments in health form part of a broader national strategy aimed at poverty alleviation and inclusive prosperity.

“Our goal is to ensure that every Ugandan has access to quality healthcare, good roads, and the means to create wealth,” Museveni affirmed, concluding his rally amid thunderous applause from residents.
