Mbarara District — The yellow tide swept through Bukiro Town Council like a golden storm! On Sunday, about 40,000 enthusiastic supporters thronged the ancestral home of the late Tadeo Kururagire, as his son and Mbarara District NRM Chairman, Tuhaise Prosper Kururagire, held a thanksgiving ceremony that turned into one of the largest pro-Museveni mobilization events Western Uganda has ever witnessed.
The event—originally meant to thank God for Prosper’s leadership journey—quickly transformed into a massive show of strength for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
A Sea Of Yellow Shakes Mbarara
By mid-morning, Bukiro was a sight to behold. From every corner of Mbarara and neighboring districts, convoys of boda bodas, buses, and trucks arrived, all painted in yellow and waving NRM flags. The entire town turned into a festival of patriotism and unity under the theme “Strengthening the NRM Spirit — Museveni Forever.”
The ceremony attracted a galaxy of NRM bigwigs and government dignitaries including Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Hon. Francis Mwebesa, who represented the Chief Guest, Vice President H.E. Jessica Alupo.
Also in attendance was Nzeire Kaguta Shadrack, brother to the President and Prosper’s close ally, alongside Members of Parliament, district chairpersons, and thousands of party loyalists.
Prosper: The Powerhouse Behind Western Uganda’s NRM Resurgence
To cement his loyalty and gratitude, Prosper went beyond words — he sacrificed 30 cows and offered a full trailer of all tribes of drinks, ensuring that Museveni’s “bazukulu” ate and drank to their fill. In fact, you can say this celebration was a true feast of faith, friendship, and patriotism.
Speaking to the charged crowd, Prosper declared with conviction that he is ready to deliver 99% of Western Uganda’s votes to President Museveni in 2026.
“I have already laid the mobilization grounds,” Prosper vowed. “Western Uganda is NRM’s fortress. We shall give our father and liberator, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, a landslide victory — not by luck, but by loyalty, just watch the space and be ready see opposition falling like never before.”
He emphasized reconciliation within the party, working closely with those who lost in the last NRM primaries to ensure unity. Prosper condemned independent candidates, calling them “seeds of divisionism” that threaten the NRM legacy.
“We are one family under the NRM. Division is poison — and we shall not drink it,” he added, receiving thunderous applause.
“Museveni made Uganda. We, the children of NRM, will keep it shining.” he noted.
Mbarara LC5 Chairman Joins The Call
Mbarara District LCV Chairman Hon. Twongyeirwe Hygin Kururagire, who won NRM ticket, rallied people to reject divisive politics.
“The gains Uganda has achieved under President Museveni’s leadership must be protected,” he said. “Let’s reject the few opposition elements trying to mislead us. NRM is our identity, our pride, and our future.”
Nzeire’s Fiery Message: ‘Stop The Politics Of Identity’
In a rare and emotional speech, Nzeire Kaguta Shadrack lashed out at leaders promoting sectarian politics.
“Those who peddle identity politics are enemies of Uganda’s progress,” Nzeire charged. “We must remember — Museveni united this country by vision, not by tribe. Whoever promotes division is simply fighting Uganda’s peace and future.”
His words electrified the audience, as chants of “NRM oyee! Museveni oyee! Prosper oyee!” echoed across Bukiro.
Represented by Minister Mwebesa, Vice President Jessica Alupo heaped praise on Prosper for his devotion to the Movement and the President.
“Prosper is not just a leader — he is a mobilizer, a unifier, and a symbol of continuity,” she said. “The President is proud of the Kururagire family for standing with the Movement from the 1980s up to today. Their late father, Tadeo Kururagire, was a pillar of the NRA struggle — and his son is keeping that torch burning.”
Alupo also announced government’s plan to construct the Bwizibwera–Nyakambu–Nsika–Kabwohe tarmac road, a promise that drew massive cheers from the locals.
Voices From the Ground: ‘Prosper Has Rekindled Our Spirit’
Many of those who attended spoke passionately about Prosper’s impact on NRM’s revival in Mbarara.
An excited NRM supporter who recently crossed from FDC, Mugume Sam praised Prosper: ”Prosper has not only redefined political mobilization in Mbarara but also revived the golden spirit of the Movement. With leaders like him on the ground, the NRM’s 2026 victory seems not just possible — but inevitable.”
He added; “I have never seen such unity and numbers since the President’s recent rallies. Prosper has done what many failed to do — he has revived our confidence. With him, Museveni will sweep Western Uganda clean!”
Another youth leader from Kashari South added:
“In the past, our leaders stayed in offices. Prosper is different — he is in the field, with the people, building the NRM every day. His new district party office in Mbarara is a sign of commitment and personal sacrifice.”
Others described Prosper as the “golden engine” of NRM’s western machinery — a man who doesn’t wait for directives but acts on his conviction that Museveni’s leadership is the backbone of Uganda’s stability.
As the sun set over the hills of Bukiro, the celebration climaxed at Prosper’s hotel ‘New Hirizons Hotel’ in Bwizibwera where guests were thrilled with electrifying performances from David Lutalo, Nandor Love (Kinawolovu hitmaker), and other top artists.
The massive crowd sang, danced, and waved Museveni portraits late into the night, praising Prosper for his generosity and unwavering loyalty.
“He is the new face of NRM energy in the West,” one ‘party animal’ said. “Prosper has shown us that politics is not about position — it’s about passion for service.”
