Zigoti Property War: Deputy RDC Mwanjuzi Fights Back After Court Ruling, Trashes ‘Unfair’ Judgment & Vows To Appeal

By Our Reporter

Mityana, Uganda — The Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Mityana, Prossy Mwanjuzi, has vowed to challenge what she described as an unfair and rushed High Court ruling that declared her directive on a disputed property in Zigoti illegal, irrational, and procedurally improper.

Mwanjuzi insists that the ruling by the High Court in Mubende, delivered by Justice Tadeo Asiimwe, was reached without giving her a fair hearing, claiming the process was “hurried and suspiciously influenced.”

“I received the court summons on very short notice, and before I could even prepare my defense, judgment had already been delivered,” Mwanjuzi said in an interview. “I was never heard, and I strongly suspect there was influence or inducement that led to the swift conclusion of this matter.”

The Deputy RDC clarified that she never handed over the disputed Zigoti commercial building to any party, contrary to what was claimed in court.

“As an RDC, I have no legal authority to hand over private property,” Mwanjuzi explained. “What I did was to engage the two parties and this was after Kalembe Mike had approached me seeking my assistance to evict Kintu George, the claimants of the property, after asking him to produce a court order for the same, he turned furious and that’s when I told him to go seek help from somewhere else and I think that’s now how he ended up rushing to Court, and then from here, I asked both parties to maintain the status quo until court decides who is the rightful property owner.”

She noted that she had made several attempts to resolve this property dispute between Kalembe and Kintu, but that Kalembe persistently dodged meetings arranged by her office.

“I called for meetings several times to mediate, because I thought this was my role as a servant of this government, but Kalembe never showed up and yet he was the first to approach me to help him evict Kintu. When I asked him to produce legal requirements for me to implement his request, he left angered, and I never saw him again. He went into hiding and started spreading fake propaganda, helped by his lawyer a one Kazungu Apolo,” Mwanjuzi said. “He only came to me asking that I help him evict Kintu, but I told him I had no powers to do that, something that didn’t leave him at peace, which is fine with me because my servanthood is pro-people, not pro-individual.”

Locals Defend Mwanjuzi’s Integrity

Several residents of Zigoti have come out in defense of the Deputy RDC, describing her as a loyal and transparent public servant who has consistently upheld fairness and justice in handling local disputes.

Mr. Peter Musoke, a local trader in Zigoti Town, said:

“Madam Mwanjuzi has been a very fair RDC. We know her as someone who doesn’t take sides or accept bribes. This whole case looks like a setup to tarnish her good record.”

Another resident, Ms. Janet Nankya, claimed that Kalembe’s camp had earlier tried to offer money to the Deputy RDC to influence her decision.

“We heard that Kalembe’s people wanted to bribe the RDC with about 30 million shillings to forcefully evict Kintu,” Nankya said. “She refused the money, and that’s when the group turned against her and started spreading lies.”

‘I Will Not Be Weakened By Injustice’ — Mwanjuzi Vows Appeal

Despite the High Court ruling, Mwanjuzi has vowed to remain steadfast in her duties as a government representative, saying she will not be intimidated by what she termed “unfounded attacks” and “unjust judgments.”

“I will not be weakened by an unfair ruling. My conscience is clear — I didn’t hand over this property to Kintu,” she said firmly. “In fact, my lawyers are already preparing an appeal. We shall launch a legal war against this fake ruling and expose the truth.”

Mwanjuzi added that she remains committed to her oath of office and will continue fighting corruption, land grabbing, and criminality in Mityana District.

“I was appointed to serve, not to please individuals. I will continue to protect the vulnerable and ensure fairness prevails. No amount of intimidation will stop me,” she said.

Mwanjuzi said her earlier attempts to mediate between the two men were intended to prevent violence and preserve peace as court processes continued.

Mwanjuzi’s legal team has since confirmed plans to file a formal appeal challenging the Mubende High Court ruling in the Court of Appeal. Stay tuned for the latest updates on this matter!
