Two men, Kamukama David and Nuwagira George, have been arraigned before the Kiryandongo Chief Magistrate’s Court on multiple charges, including forgery, uttering a false document, conspiracy to commit a felony, and intermeddling with the estate of a deceased person. The suspects have been remanded until 20th February 2026.

The charges, brought by the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in collaboration with the Anti-Corruption Court Unit and the Criminal Investigations Directorate, stem from allegations that the two men, along with a third suspect still at large, forged a land sales agreement dated 15th February 2002.

The fraudulent document claimed that the late Kabiyanja Joy had sold them approximately 100 acres of land in Kamusenene Village, Kiryandongo District. Investigations revealed that Kabiyanja Joy passed away in 2000, making it impossible for her to have signed a land sale agreement two years after her death.

Further findings indicate that the accused knowingly used the forged document to deceive authorities and proceeded to sell portions of the land to third parties, despite being aware that the property belonged to the estate of the late Kabiyanja Joy and her children, who hold letters of administration.

The case highlights ongoing efforts by Ugandan authorities to clamp down on fraudulent land dealings and protect the rights of heirs and legal property owners.

The court will resume hearings on 20th February 2026.
