Proceedings in the case involving Christopher Okello Onyum, the prime suspect in the murder of four toddlers, were on Thursday morning temporarily halted after a sudden downpour disrupted a public court session at Ggaba Community Church grounds.
Okello had just been brought to the venue for the hearing when heavy rains, accompanied by strong winds, began mid-morning. The unexpected weather damaged parts of the tent set up for the session, forcing security personnel to escort the suspect away from the scene as a precaution.
Court officials had confirmed that the session would resume once weather conditions stabilized and safety at the venue was assured. As we report this, proceedings have indeed resumed, with more witnesses taking the stand to give their accounts.
The delay adds to a series of disruptions that have affected the high-profile case. On the previous day, proceedings were also delayed after a prison van was involved in an accident that injured a journalist at the scene.
Later, when court eventually convened, the session was halted after Okello complained of feeling unwell. Although proceedings briefly resumed in the evening, the suspect again raised concerns about his health, prompting the presiding judge to adjourn the case.
The matter was subsequently pushed to today, April 16, 2026.
