Police in Nigeria’s Kano State have arrested a 25-year-old woman who allegedly attacked her boyfriend with a knife and severed his manhood at a hotel in the Badawa area.
The suspect, identified as Maimunatu Idris, from Maigatari Local Government Area in neighbouring Jigawa State, allegedly attacked the man after discovering that he planned to marry another woman.
According to Kano State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the incident occurred on July 27, 2026, at about 12:50pm at Durbar Hotel in Badawa.
Kiyawa said police received a report from the hotel management before the Divisional Police Officer for Badawa Division led detectives to the scene.
“During the attack, the suspect severed the victim’s manhood,” Kiyawa said in a statement.
Police arrested Idris at the scene and recovered the knife allegedly used in the attack as an exhibit.
The injured man was rushed to Abubakar Imam Urology Hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment.
Kiyawa said investigations into the incident are ongoing.
The Commissioner of Police for Kano State, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, condemned the alleged attack and reiterated the command’s commitment to investigating cases of violence.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
