President Museveni has been sworn in as president of Uganda for the seventh term.
The swearing-in ceremony conducted by the Chief Justice, Dr.Flavian Zeija was done at Kololo Independence grounds on Tuesday morning and saw Musevnei swear the oath of allegiance and oath of presidence.
There were cheers and ulutations from a mamoth crowd that attended the ceremony at Kololo as Museveni took the oath.
“We now have a new president who will take us through the presidential term 2026 to 2031. Thank you NRM cadres, leaders and mobilisers,” said outgoing Vice President, Jessica Alupo.
He later received the instruments of power as President of Uganda including the constitution and national flag.
Museveni also received the presidential standard flag, the Uganda national anthem, national coat of arms and the public seal.
Later, the national anthem was played, as well as a 21-gun salute to welcome him to the seat and he inspected the parade for the first time as the new president of the country.
The national flag which had earlier been lowered was again hoisted.
