Police in Amolatar District have arrested a 30-year-old woman accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old Senior One student after allegedly hiding him in her house for nearly two weeks.
According to the Amolatar District Police Commander, Mr John Mafabi, the incident happened at Alemere Trading Centre in Awelo Sub-county, where the suspect is said to have lured the teenager into her home.
The boy, who studies at Akalo Secondary School in Kole District, had reportedly been helping his father sell meat at a butchery before he disappeared under unclear circumstances.
Police said his sudden disappearance caused panic among family members, who immediately began searching for him after he failed to return home.
Mr Mafabi explained that the boy’s parents later received information about his possible whereabouts and rushed to the suspect’s house. Upon arrival, they reportedly forced the door open and found the teenager hiding among piles of clothes inside the house.
“The suspect allegedly tried to escape as the parents entered the house,” Mr Mafabi said on Thursday.
The woman and the boy were both taken for medical examination as investigations continue.
Police have since opened a defilement case under SD Ref: 23/12/05/2026.
Investigators also revealed that the suspect had previously moved to Awelo Sub-county with her husband, who works as a security guard in Jinja. She later settled at Alemere Trading Centre, where she reportedly operated a tailoring business.
