Former State Minister for Investment and Privatization Evelyn Anite has set social media abuzz after publicly congratulating her husband, Ambassador Allan Kajik, with a romantic message that humorously praised her “natural resources” and suggested that “natural water” awaited him after his latest international recognition.
Anite’s post came after the Uganda High Commission in Ottawa, Canada announced that Kajik, Uganda’s Chargé d’Affaires a.i., had received the Global Advocacy Award at the Canada Legacy Honors for his contribution to strengthening Uganda–Canada relations.
In a statement, the Uganda High Commission congratulated the diplomat, describing the award as recognition of his exemplary leadership and commitment to public service.
“We extend our warmest congratulations to H.E. Amb. Allan Kajik, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., on being honoured with the Global Advocacy Award at the Canada Legacy Honors. This prestigious recognition is a testament to his exemplary diplomatic leadership, unwavering commitment to public service, and outstanding advocacy in advancing Uganda–Canada relations while championing the interests of Ugandans both at home and across the diaspora. We celebrate this well-deserved achievement and commend his dedication to representing Uganda with distinction and excellence.”
Celebrating the achievement, Anite took to X (formerly Twitter) with a message that quickly attracted widespread attention.
“Congratulations my Darling Captain. Thank you for always winning a big reward. With lots of love, hugs, kisses and natural water awaits you.”
The phrase “natural water” immediately became the talking point online, with hundreds of users interpreting it as a playful romantic reference. Many followers flooded the comments with jokes, memes and teasing remarks about the former minister’s choice of words.
Rather than shy away from the reactions, Anite embraced the online banter, responding to several commenters with equally humorous replies.
When one user questioned whether people from Arua have water, Anite responded:
“Who told you they don’t have?”
Another commenter joked that girls from Northern Uganda “have no water,” prompting Anite to reply:
“Then why are we called West Nile?”
A social media user later suggested that a better description was needed because West Nile is located in western Uganda. Anite laughed off the remark, saying she was only referring to what she personally has.
One follower challenged her by saying she could not prove her claim, to which the former minister replied:
“Unfortunately I can’t give you evidence.”
Some users advised her that, as a former government minister, she should avoid making such personal remarks on a public platform. Anite dismissed the criticism, explaining that her intention was simply to celebrate her husband’s achievement.
“The plan was to share the joy with you.”
The online exchanges continued after another user joked that she had made the River Nile look like a village stream. Responding with laughter emojis, Anite wrote:
“Spot on. Captain is in things always sleeping in the village stream. West Nile juju.”
The posts have since generated thousands of views, likes and comments, with many Ugandans describing the couple’s playful interaction as one of the lighter moments on social media.
Ambassador Kajik’s Global Advocacy Award recognizes his diplomatic efforts in promoting Uganda’s interests in Canada and strengthening bilateral ties, while Anite’s humorous congratulatory message has ensured that the celebration has received almost as much attention online as the award itself.
