A man has been remanded to September 24, 2026, after appearing before the Wakiso Chief Magistrates Court on charges linked to an alleged forcible entry onto land in Kasanje Town Council, Wakiso District.

Ssentamu Gerald was arraigned following investigations conducted by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, in collaboration with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Criminal Investigations Directorate.

He faces charges of forcible entry, destruction of crops and theft.

According to the prosecution, Ssentamu allegedly claimed ownership of a kibanja on land identified as Busiro Block 514, Plots 6, 10 and 12.

Investigators allege that between October 30 and November 4, 2025, Ssentamu and other suspects, some of whom had previously been charged and remanded over related allegations, entered the property at Kasanje Town Council.

The land was reportedly occupied by Kamuli Industrial Estates Ltd.

Crops and trees allegedly destroyed

The prosecution alleges that the group mobilised a large number of people before entering the property and taking control of the land.

Investigators further allege that tree plantations, coffee trees and other natural trees on the property were destroyed during the incident.

The case also involves allegations that nine motors belonging to coffee milling machines were taken from the premises.

The value of the allegedly stolen equipment has been estimated at approximately Shs100 million.

Ssentamu was remanded in custody pending his next court appearance on September 24, 2026.

The case follows earlier proceedings against other suspects over allegations arising from the same land dispute.

The allegations against Ssentamu have not been proved in court, and he is presumed innocent unless and until a court determines otherwise.

The prosecution is expected to present further evidence as the case proceeds.
