Fresh Details Emerge: Police Breaks Silence On Bukoto TikToker’s Death

Police in Kampala are searching for Rose Turindamukama, a woman whose 22-year-old roommate was found dead in their rented room in Bukoto.

The deceased, Jovia Namuwulya, was a waitress and resident of Mukalazi Zone, Bukoto I Parish in Nakawa Division. She was also known on TikTok as Jovia1235.

Namuwulya was discovered dead on August 20, 2026, after relatives became concerned when she stopped responding to their calls.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala, Namuwulya had rented the room about seven months earlier. About three months later, Turindamukama reportedly moved in with her.

On the day of the discovery, Namuwulya’s relatives contacted the caretaker after failing to reach her. The caretaker and Namuwulya’s sister went to the room but found the door locked.

Kawala said they looked through a window and noticed blood stains inside before gaining access to the room.

“Looking through the window they observed blood stains inside the room. They subsequently accessed the room and found Jovia lying in a pool of blood,” Kawala said.

Police recovered the body and transported it to the City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Turindamukama was not at the residence when police arrived and has since been sought as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding Namuwulya’s death.

“Her friend Turindamukama Rose couldn’t be found and is currently being sought in connection with the incident,” Kawala said.

Social Media Claims

The case has generated widespread discussion online, with several unverified accounts offering different explanations for the killing.

One version attributed to Turindamukama alleges that a man identified only as Muhammad was responsible for Namuwulya’s death.

According to the account circulating on social media, the two women allegedly met the man through Tinder. It claims that Namuwulya later took money from him and that he subsequently traced them to their rented room.

The account further alleges that Muhammad killed Namuwulya during a confrontation, forcing Turindamukama to flee.

There have also been social media claims that Turindamukama left Uganda after the incident and that messages were later sent using Namuwulya’s identity.

Police, however, have not confirmed any of these claims, including the identity or involvement of the alleged man, or reports that Turindamukama left the country.

Investigators are continuing with inquiries and efforts to trace Turindamukama as they seek to establish what happened.

Kawala appealed to anyone with information that could help the investigation to report to the nearest police station.

“Anyone with information that may lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect is urged to report to the nearest police station,” she said.
