Victoria University is set to expand its footprint in Kampala with the construction of a new campus in Naguru, with building works expected to commence this year.
The planned facility, located near Phaneroo in one of Kampala’s rapidly developing suburbs, is expected to provide the university with a modern environment for learning, innovation and student interaction.
Victoria University Vice Chancellor, Dr Lawrence Muganga, recently shared architectural impressions of the proposed campus, describing the project as an exciting milestone for the institution.
The futuristic appearance of the designs, he said, could easily make one think they had been generated using artificial intelligence, but the impressions represent the actual plans for the university’s new home.
“At first glance, you might think someone got a little too creative with AI. But no, these are the actual design impressions of the upcoming Victoria University Kampala, Uganda, campus in the heart of Kampala, Naguru to be exact, close to Phaneroo,” Dr Muganga said.
He confirmed that construction is expected to begin this year, expressing enthusiasm about seeing the designs translated into a physical campus.
“Yes, this is happening, and I am excited to share that work begins this year,” he said.
Dr Muganga said the university community was looking forward to the completion of the project and the opportunity to see the architectural concepts transformed into a facility that students and staff can use and identify with.
“We cannot wait to see these images become something you can actually walk into, experience, and call home. This one is going to be beautiful,” he said.

The Naguru project adds to Victoria University’s growing profile as an institution seeking to combine academic excellence with innovation, practical learning and technology-driven education.
The university has increasingly positioned itself as a modern and cosmopolitan institution, with programmes designed to equip students with practical skills relevant to the changing demands of the workplace.
Accredited by the National Council for Higher Education, Victoria University hosts students from different nationalities and offers a diverse academic environment.
Its current main campus is located at Victoria Towers on Jinja Road in Kampala, with the university benefiting from its central location, access to public transport and ample parking space.
The planned Naguru campus is expected to further strengthen the university’s presence in Kampala while providing additional space for its growing academic community.
The institution has also continued to promote innovation in education, including the use of digital technologies and practical approaches to teaching and learning.
