Police have rescued a 39-year-old pastor who was abducted by five suspected criminals at his church.
The incident occurred on July 14, around 18:30 hours, at the Miracle Center of Fire International Ministries.
According to Mwebantu, police launched a successful rescue operation that led to the arrest of two suspects involved in the abduction.
Investigations revealed that Pastor Owen Silozi received a phone call from a female congregant requesting a meeting at the church premises.
Upon his arrival, he was confronted by four men who forcibly bundled him into a nearby motor vehicle.
“Witnesses reported that the vehicle, a white Toyota Allion, sped off towards Kafue road,” deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale told the media.
Following the abduction, the alleged criminals contacted Pastor Silozi’s wife, demanding a ransom of KSh 50,000.
The call was the starting point as police were immediately alerted and began their investigations.
“Police officers managed to apprehend the suspects and rescue the pastor, who was found with a deep cut on his head,” Mr Mwale reported.
The suspects led police officers to a house where it is alleged the pastor was tortured.
The house’s owner, 25-year-old Kennedy Mubanga, was also arrested.
A manhunt has been launched for three additional suspects, identified as Musonda Mushili, Emmanuel, and Maureen Mwitumwa.
The police continue their efforts to bring all involved to justice and ensure the community’s safety.
