Several Impersonators Face Jail As First Daughter Natasha Reports Fake TikTok Accounts

The First Daughter, Natasha Karugire, has reported a network of suspected cybercriminals to police and security agencies over the creation of fake TikTok accounts impersonating her.

Karugire, the daughter of President Yoweri Museveni, confirmed over the weekend that she and her team had flagged several fraudulent TikTok accounts using her name and images. She revealed that a number of the suspects behind the accounts have already been identified.

Since joining TikTok in January 2025, Karugire has embraced the platform as a modern channel for political communication, regularly sharing insights into her parents’ official duties and national engagements.

Her growing digital presence gained further prominence last month when she hosted the President’s first-ever interactive live session on the platform. However, the rapid rise in her online following has been accompanied by an increase in impersonation and fraud.

According to Karugire, the fake accounts are part of an organised racket aimed at exploiting unsuspecting members of the public by soliciting money under false pretences.

“I have been informed that these fake accounts using my name and my pictures ask the public for money in exchange for help. I will never do this for any reason,” she said.

She urged the public not to engage with the impostors or send them money, warning that doing so only fuels criminal activity.

Karugire clarified that she operates only one official TikTok account under the handle @Natashakarugire83, and advised her followers to remain vigilant online.

She added that the matter has now escalated beyond a social media concern into a criminal investigation, noting that her team has compiled detailed evidence which has been submitted to the police and other relevant security agencies.
