The Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, has this afternoon hosted leaders of Allied Muslim Youth Uganda, the Dusmans Daawa Initiative and Taniim, Hijja & Umrah at her Kyambogo office, where she officially endorsed the upcoming 2026 Ramadhan Charity Run.
The delegation briefed her on the charity run scheduled for 15th February 2026 at Herman Padel Centre, Nsambya, an initiative aimed at promoting fitness, unity, and raising funds to support vulnerable families during the holy month of Ramadhan.
Welcoming the delegation, Hajjat Namyalo praised the organizers for blending faith, health, and compassion into one impactful community activity.
“Ramadhan teaches us sacrifice, discipline and caring for the less fortunate. Supporting this charity run is not just about fitness, it is about fulfilling our duty as believers to uplift those in need,” Namyalo said.
She emphasized that Islam strongly encourages charity and supporting the vulnerable, quoting the Holy Qur’an:
“Allah says in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:261) that ‘The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed of grain which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains.’ This reminds us that every act of charity is multiplied in reward.”
Namyalo further cited Surah Al-Ma’un (107:1-3), which warns against neglecting the needy, stressing that true faith must be reflected in action.
“We cannot claim to be faithful if we ignore the hungry, the orphaned, and struggling families in our communities. Initiatives like this Ramadhan Charity Run give us a practical opportunity to live by the Qur’anic teachings,” she added.
On behalf of the Office of the National Chairman, Namyalo pledged support and encouraged Muslim youth, corporate companies, and well-wishers to participate and purchase run kits to contribute to the cause.
“Let us use our energy, our platforms, and our resources to ensure that no family breaks their fast without a meal this Ramadhan. Charity is not optional, it is an obligation,” she emphasized.
Speaking on behalf of the organizers, Uthman Matovu thanked Hajjat Namyalo for the warm reception and endorsement, noting that her support will greatly amplify the initiative.
“This run is about more than just covering kilometers. It is about covering the gaps in our communities, ensuring that vulnerable families have food, essential supplies, and dignity during Ramadhan,” Matovu said.
He revealed that proceeds from the run will go toward providing food packages and other basic necessities to families in need. He also confirmed that run kits are already available, and registration is ongoing through the provided contact lines.
Matovu called upon institutions, business leaders, and youth groups to partner with Allied Muslim Youth Uganda, the Dusmans Daawa Initiative and Taniim, Hijja & Umrah to make the 2026 edition bigger and more impactful.
The 2026 Ramadhan Charity Run is expected to attract participants from across Kampala and beyond under the theme “Charity, Fitness, Fun”, reinforcing the spirit of unity, generosity, and healthy living ahead of the sacred month.
