Police in Kyankwanzi District are investigating a gruesome double murder that has left residents of Ntunda Town Council devastated and two young children without parents.
The attack happened in Kizungu Cell in the early hours of February 14, 2026, a day meant to celebrate love and family. Instead, the quiet community woke up to scenes of grief and disbelief.
According to police, the incident was reported by a neighbor, Mulawa Ashiraf, who alerted authorities after discovering that the couple had been attacked during the night. Officers responded immediately and secured the scene as investigations began.
Preliminary findings indicate that unknown assailants stormed the home of 42-year-old peasant Sentongo Awali and his wife, Ayebare Doreen, at around 2:30 a.m. The attackers fatally assaulted the couple inside and outside their home before fleeing into the darkness.
What has shaken residents even more is the fate of the couple’s two small children, the eldest only four years old, who were inside the house at the time. The children survived physically unharmed but are now left orphaned and in need of urgent care and protection.
Community members described the family as humble and hardworking, making the violent deaths even more painful for neighbors who never imagined such brutality could strike their village.
Police have not yet established the motive behind the killings and say investigations are ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone with information to cooperate with security teams to help track down the suspects.
As fear and sorrow linger across Ntunda, residents are calling for increased night patrols and stronger community security measures. For now, a village that should have been celebrating love is instead united in mourning and searching for answers.
