Victoria University Declares Mugarura Isaiah Ndebwoha 9th Guild President-Elect

Mugarura Isaiah Ndebwoha has been declared the 9th Guild President-Elect of Victoria University for the academic year 2025/2026 after securing a decisive victory in the recently concluded student guild elections.
According to the official results released by the Victoria University Electoral Commission, Mugarura garnered 2,980 votes, representing 50.8% of the total 5,866 votes cast, emerging ahead of his two competitors in a tightly contested race.
Mujungu Marvin Kahuma finished second with 2,298 votes (39.2%), while Luwero Ben Kazigo came third with 588 votes (10.0%).
The elections, conducted through a high-tech online voting system (VCLASS), took place over two days, beginning on February 17 and concluding on February 18, 2026. The overall voter turnout stood at 55.78%, reflecting active student participation in the democratic process.
Faculty Representation Results
The Electoral Commission also released results for Guild Representative Council (GRC) positions across various faculties.
In the Faculty of Health Sciences (Female GRC), Nakawooya Kevin Hall won with 1,058 votes (51.9%), narrowly defeating Ahurira Cephas, who secured 981 votes (48.1%). The total votes cast in this category were 2,039, with a voter turnout of 63.19%.
In the Faculty of Business and Management (Male GRC), Abdul Malik Muhamood emerged victorious with 773 votes (70.7%), defeating Makanga Alvin Lawrence, who received 321 votes (29.3%) out of 1,094 votes cast.
Several other candidates were elected unopposed in their respective constituencies, including representatives from Science and Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences, International Students, Weekend/Evening programs, and the Institute of Education and Lifelong Learning.
Electoral Commission Commends Students
In its official communication dated February 18, 2026, the Electoral Commission congratulated all candidates who participated in the race and commended the student body for exercising their right to vote.
The Commission emphasized that the smooth conduct of the elections demonstrates the university’s commitment to democratic values, transparency, and student leadership development.
The newly elected guild leadership is expected to assume office and begin serving the student community in the 2025/2026 academic year.
With a voter base of 10,517 registered students across faculties, the university described the election as a milestone in strengthening participatory governance within the institution.
