The Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has intensified her Ramadan outreach in Mukono District, delivering food packages to Muslim inmates at Kauga Prison and later to Muslims at Masjid Yusuf in Nakifuma.

The donations, comprising sugar, rice, maize and wheat flour, and cooking oil, were delivered on her behalf by ONC Mukono District Coordinator Mr. John Baptist Wamala, accompanied by Sheikh Hassan Kaggwa Ssalongo, the Muslim leader Mukono Municipality.

At Kauga Prison, the Officer in Charge, SP Najjuma Juliet, warmly received the ONC delegation and applauded the initiative.

“We are deeply grateful to H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, through Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo and the Office of the National Chairman, for remembering Muslim inmates during this holy month of Ramadan,” SP Najjuma said. “This gesture restores hope and reminds our inmates that they are not forgotten.”

She further commended the Commissioner General of Prisons, Johnson Byabashaija, and the Regional Police Commander, Mary Tamale, for championing and implementing an open-door policy that has made it easier for well-wishers and organizations to access prison facilities and support inmates.

“The open-door policy has strengthened transparency and enabled partners like ONC to reach inmates with spiritual and material support. It is a progressive step that reflects compassionate leadership,” she added.

While delivering the items, Wamala conveyed Hajjat Namyalo’s message of unity, faith, and perseverance during the sacred month.

“Ramadan teaches us sacrifice, patience, and generosity. As the Office of the National Chairman, under the stewardship of Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, we are committed to standing with the Wananchi, especially Muslims observing the fast,” Wamala said. “I thank Hajjat for the trust she has placed in me to execute this noble cause and SP Najjuma for the warm reception accorded to our team.”

He emphasized that the outreach reflects President Museveni’s commitment to touching the lives of ordinary Ugandans, particularly the youth and the vulnerable.

From Kauga Prison, the team proceeded to Masjid Yusuf in Nakifuma, where the donation was received by Imaam Nkoyoyo Ismail. The Imaam praised Hajjat Namyalo and President Museveni for what he described as “leadership that listens and acts.”

“Through Hajjat Namyalo, President Museveni has reached the ground and touched the souls of many Ugandans, especially the bazzukulu,” Imaam Nkoyoyo said. “As Mukono, we have nothing to blame against this government when we see such compassion extended to our people during Ramadan.”

He also applauded Wamala for effectively delivering the items and ensuring they reached the intended beneficiaries.

“Allah reminds us in the Holy Qur’an: ‘The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed of grain which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies for whom He wills’ (Qur’an 2:261). Today’s act of generosity is not just charity; it is an investment in faith and humanity,” Nkoyoyo said.

He further cited Surah Al-Insan (76:8-9): “And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, saying, ‘We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude.’” He noted that remembering inmates during Ramadan reflects the true Islamic spirit of compassion and inclusivity.

Since the beginning of the week, Hajjat Namyalo has been spearheading Ramadan food distributions across Mukono and major universities in Kampala, reaching hundreds of fasting Muslims. The Office of the National Chairman has confirmed that the outreach will continue in the coming days to ensure more beneficiaries receive support during the holy month.

As the faithful continue to observe Ramadan, the Mukono outreach stands as a testament to the values of generosity, solidarity, and servant leadership  reinforcing the belief that true leadership is measured not only by policy, but by compassion in action.
