Former SC Villa president emeritus Immanuel Ben Misagga has released a detailed account of his decades-long involvement with the club, revealing internal power struggles, financial crises, and leadership intrigues that shaped one of Uganda’s most successful football institutions.
In a document dated March 11, 2026, Misagga narrates what he describes as a journey marked by “hard work, leadership, intrigue and betrayal,” tracing his relationship with the club back to the early 1990s.
According to Misagga, he rose through the ranks after being nominated in 2001 to serve as the club’s national coordinator by the late Kevin Aliro Ogen. However, he claims his growing popularity among fans quickly triggered resistance from some senior club officials who viewed him as a threat to their authority.
Misagga recounts a dramatic episode ahead of the 2004 CECAFA Club Championship in Mwanza, Tanzania, when the club reportedly lacked funds to travel. He says he mobilised financial support from several well-wishers to facilitate the trip, which ultimately ended in triumph for the Ugandan side.
Despite the success, Misagga alleges that leadership wrangles later intensified, culminating in aborted elections and what he describes as calculated manoeuvres by some club officials to retain control of the club.
The former club boss says the internal disputes delayed SC Villa’s progress for years, forcing him at times to step back from active leadership.
