Thousands of residents have this morning flocked to Bukedea Teaching Hospital Grounds in Bukedea District as the free RR Eye Camp officially kicks off, drawing overwhelming turnout on its opening day. The outreach has attracted people from across the region seeking specialized eye care services, in what has quickly become one of the most impactful community health initiatives in the area.
The camp, organized by the Ruparelia Group, is being held in memory of the late Rajiv Ruparelia, whose legacy of charity and compassion continues to inspire efforts aimed at improving lives. Known for his commitment to uplifting vulnerable communities, Rajiv’s vision is being honored through this initiative, which is providing free eye screening, treatment, and surgical services to those in need.
Medical teams and volunteers including dozens of health science students from the mighty Victoria University are working tirelessly to attend to the large numbers, with organizers noting that the camp will run until 29th March 2026. Beneficiaries have praised the initiative for restoring hope and improving access to essential healthcare, particularly for those who would otherwise be unable to afford such services.
