Police in Entebbe Municipality have recovered an illegal pistol and arrested 16 suspects following an intelligence-led operation conducted across parts of Wakiso District.
The operation, carried out on April 11, 2026, targeted the areas of Wamala, Buzzi, Lutaba, and Ssisa Village after residents raised concerns about the presence of an illegal firearm in the community.
Security teams raided houses under construction in Hossana Estate and Jomayi Estate, as well as several known gambling spots, in a coordinated effort to track down the suspected weapon.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala, the operation was informed by credible intelligence and public tip-offs.
“Police in Entebbe have successfully recovered a pistol during an intelligence-led operation conducted on April 11. The operation targeted houses under construction and known gambling points,” Kawala said.
She confirmed that 16 suspects were arrested during the crackdown. One of them, identified as Ronald Segujja, later led officers to the location where the pistol was recovered.
The firearm has since been secured as an exhibit as investigations continue.
“All suspects are currently in police custody and will be produced before court in due course,” Kawala added.
Police say the operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal firearms and improve security in the greater Wakiso area, urging members of the public to continue sharing information that can aid law enforcement.
