Proceedings in the ongoing murder trial of Christopher Okello Onyum have taken a chilling turn, with court hearing that the accused allegedly admitted to killing children in pursuit of wealth.

Testifying before the High Court, a police officer told court that when Okello was brought into custody, he had visible injuries on his face and mouth. Upon being questioned, the suspect reportedly said he had been beaten by an angry mob during his arrest.

The officer further testified that during interrogation, he asked Okello why he had committed the killings. In response, the suspect allegedly stated that he was “looking for riches,” a claim that left the courtroom in shock as proceedings continued.

Court also heard that the suspect is believed to have spent days planning the attack. According to the testimony, Okello procured weapons, including knives, and carried out surveillance on the targeted school prior to the incident. Investigators say he observed that the school was largely managed by women, which may have influenced his actions.

The testimony adds to a growing body of evidence being presented by the prosecution as they seek to pin down motive, intent, and premeditation in the high-profile case that has gripped the nation.

The trial continues, with more witnesses expected to take the stand as the court works to establish the full circumstances surrounding the disturbing killings.
