Man United, City Fans Arrested For Stealing Goat Meant For Arsenal Title Celebrations

    By Swift Reporter

Football rivalry in Uganda took a dramatic and unusual twist on Thursday after two supporters of Manchester United F.C. and Manchester City F.C. were reportedly arrested for allegedly stealing a goat belonging to Arsenal F.C. fans in Masaka.

The bizarre incident has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with football fans across the country expressing amusement and disbelief over the lengths rival supporters went to disrupt celebrations.

According to reports, Arsenal supporters in Masaka had purchased the goat as part of planned festivities to mark the club’s historic 2026 Premier League triumph — their first league title in 22 years.

Arsenal were officially crowned champions after AFC Bournemouth held defending champions Manchester City to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday, a result that triggered celebrations among Arsenal fans worldwide.

In anticipation of Sunday’s trophy celebrations, supporters in Masaka reportedly organized a local feast and bought a goat for slaughter during the event.

However, the celebrations took an unexpected turn when two rival fans allegedly stole the animal in an attempt to stop Arsenal supporters from enjoying their victory party.

Sources say the suspects, believed to be loyal supporters of Manchester United and Manchester City, admitted they wanted to frustrate Arsenal fans and “spoil the mood” ahead of the planned celebrations.

The suspects were later arrested following complaints by local Arsenal supporters, though police had not yet issued an official statement by press time.

The incident has since gone viral online, with many Ugandans jokingly describing it as one of the most extreme examples of football rivalry in the country.

Uganda is known for its passionate following of English Premier League football, with fans often organizing public processions, parties and street celebrations whenever their clubs secure major victories.

In some cases, the intense rivalry between supporters has resulted in fights, property damage and police intervention, especially during high-stakes matches involving England’s top clubs.

Despite the controversy, Arsenal fans in Masaka say their celebrations will continue as planned when the club officially lifts the Premier League trophy on Sunday.
