Terrible: Over 15 Killed, 28 Injured In Deadly Bus Accident

At least 16 people have died and 28 others were injured after a bus crashed on a road linking the Red Sea resort towns of Dahab and Nuweiba in Egypt’s South Sinai governorate on Wednesday morning, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Health.

Authorities immediately launched an emergency response following reports of the crash, dispatching 20 ambulances to the scene to provide first aid and transport injured passengers to nearby medical facilities.

Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said emergency teams were working to ensure that those injured received the necessary medical treatment.

“All measures are being taken to provide the highest level of medical care to the injured,” Ghaffar said.

A ministry spokesman said the central operations room was activated as soon as officials were notified of the accident, with ambulances sent to the crash site to evacuate victims and provide emergency care.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known, and authorities had not announced further details about what led to the incident.

The accident occurred along a road connecting two of South Sinai’s best-known coastal destinations. The region, located along the Red Sea in northeastern Egypt, attracts visitors from around the world for its coral reefs, marine life, desert landscapes and mountain trails.

Dahab and Nuweiba are popular destinations on the Gulf of Aqaba, particularly among divers, hikers and other adventure travelers.

The road network linking the remote resort communities includes long and winding stretches through mountainous terrain, presenting challenges for motorists, particularly along isolated sections.

Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding Wednesday’s crash as emergency services continue to treat those injured.
