Victoria University has strengthened its commitment to industry-driven education after signing a long-term Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BBS Terefayina, the media group owned by the Buganda Kingdom.
The partnership brings together the university and one of Uganda’s prominent media houses in a collaboration aimed at creating new opportunities for students, promoting practical learning and strengthening cooperation between academia and the media industry.
The MoU was signed by Victoria University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Lawrence Muganga, and BBS Terefayina Managing Director, Eng. Patrick Sembajjo, in the presence of Victoria University Compliance and Relations Manager, Ms Racheal Ayebare, and Corporate Education Office Manager, Dr Shamim K. Matovu.
The agreement provides a framework for long-term collaboration in areas including professional development, student training, internships, knowledge exchange, research and other initiatives of mutual interest.
For Victoria University, the partnership further demonstrates its growing focus on connecting classroom learning with real-world industry experience, giving students opportunities to acquire practical skills and gain exposure to professional environments before completing their studies.
Prof. Muganga has continued to champion an education model that places strong emphasis on practical skills, innovation and preparing graduates to meet the changing demands of the workplace.
The collaboration with BBS Terefayina is expected to particularly benefit students pursuing programmes related to journalism, mass communication, public relations, business and other disciplines where exposure to industry is critical to professional development.
Through such partnerships, Victoria University is strengthening the bridge between higher education and the job market while creating platforms through which students can interact with experienced professionals and apply the knowledge acquired in class.
The partnership also presents opportunities for BBS Terefayina to benefit from Victoria University’s academic expertise, research capabilities and emerging pool of young talent.

By bringing together academia and industry, the university continues to position itself as an institution committed to producing career-ready graduates with the knowledge, skills and practical experience required to make an impact in Uganda and beyond.
