Jennifer reportedly died at about 5:15 a.m. after allegedly being shot in the head inside the couple’s bedroom. Her husband, identified as Raulent Kweka, is accused of carrying out the shooting during a domestic disagreement.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation, with accounts from local leaders and neighbours providing details of the events that unfolded in the early hours of the morning.
According to reports, the incident came to light after the couple’s housemaid raised the alarm, prompting nearby residents to alert local authorities and police officers from Mabwepande.
Russia Agustino Shirima, the neighbourhood chairwoman, said she rushed to the residence after receiving information about the suspected shooting.
On arrival, she found residents gathered outside the house, trying to establish what had happened. After speaking to the housemaid, Shirima reportedly learnt that Jennifer had been shot inside the bedroom.
Police officers and local officials were subsequently informed and responded to the scene, where Jennifer was reportedly found with a fatal gunshot wound.
By the time Shirima arrived, Raulent had reportedly left the residence carrying a bag. His whereabouts were initially unclear.
The local leader later received information suggesting that he had gone to Kawe Police Station to surrender. However, Shirima said she had not personally witnessed the alleged surrender and could not independently confirm whether he had handed himself over to police.
The suspect’s movements following the incident are expected to be examined as investigators piece together the events surrounding Jennifer’s death.
Attention has also turned to reports that the couple had previously come into contact with social welfare officials.
Shirima disclosed that letters from the Social Welfare Department had been delivered to the couple’s residence in the weeks before the shooting. She reportedly assisted in delivering some of the correspondence but said she did not know what the letters contained at the time.
She later learnt that Jennifer had allegedly lodged a complaint against her husband with the department.
The nature of the complaint has not been established, and it remains unclear whether it was directly connected to the circumstances that preceded the shooting.
Investigators may seek to establish the purpose of the correspondence, whether any interventions took place and whether the information could help explain the background to the incident.
A neighbour, Aisha Mwenda, also reportedly recalled hearing a sound resembling a gunshot during the early morning hours.
Mwenda said she did not immediately know where the sound had come from or what had happened, learning of its alleged connection to Jennifer’s home later.
Her account could help investigators reconstruct the timeline of events, alongside statements from the housemaid, local leaders and other residents.
The case has raised painful questions about what occurred inside the family home before the fatal incident and whether there were earlier warning signs that could help explain the tragedy.
For residents of Senzere in Bunju A, the reported killing has left grief and uncertainty as they await further information from the authorities.
Police investigations are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding Jennifer’s death, clarify the reported movements of her husband and determine whether any previous complaints are relevant to the case.
