Uganda Can’t Be A Lab For Political Experiments!—Mbarara NRM Boss Tuhaise Declares Museveni The Only Trusted Leader Ahead Of 2026

By Frank Kamuntu

In a passionate and resolute call to action, Tuhaise Prosper Kururagire, the Mbarara District Chairman of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), has urged Ugandans across all regions — from the heartlands of Ankole to the cultural stronghold of Buganda — to rally behind President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for yet another term in 2026.

Speaking at a high-energy mobilization meeting in Mbarara over the weekend, Kururagire declared that President Museveni remains the most visionary, tested, and unifying leader capable of steering Uganda toward continued peace, stability, and economic transformation.

“Ugandans need to look around and ask themselves: who has consistently delivered? Who has secured our peace, built our roads, modernized our agriculture, and ensured our children go to school?” Kururagire asked the cheering crowd. “That man is none other than H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.”

Kururagire emphasized that Museveni’s steady leadership over the past four decades has not only maintained Uganda’s security and unity but also positioned the country as a regional powerhouse in trade, innovation, and diplomacy.

He urged the youth, especially first-time voters, to study the historical gains made under the NRM and to engage meaningfully in politics, not with emotion, but with understanding of Uganda’s development journey.

“From the ruins of war and economic collapse, President Museveni built a nation of opportunity. Under his leadership, we have Universal Primary Education, improved healthcare, ICT hubs, and growing industries. We are not where we want to be yet, but we are on the right path,” he said.

Kururagire also called on leaders in central Uganda, especially Buganda region, to rise above divisive politics and join the national cause of continuity, unity, and development.

“Buganda is the heartbeat of Uganda’s economy. We need Buganda to lead in this mission — not in opposition, but in partnership. President Museveni has always respected and invested in Buganda. It’s time to strengthen that bond for the good of all Ugandans.”

His remarks come at a time when political debates around succession and generational leadership are heating up. However, Kururagire argued that experience, resilience, and a proven track record should be the key pillars for voters’ decisions in 2026.

“Uganda is not a playground for experiments. We cannot afford trial and error. We need a leader who understands the dynamics of governance, geopolitics, and nation-building. That leader is still Yoweri Museveni,” he asserted.

Further, Kururagire unveiled plans to intensify grassroots mobilization, youth outreach, and inter-regional dialogue under the NRM umbrella, ahead of the 2026 elections.

His rallying call has been echoed by other district leaders in the western region, who praised his message as one grounded in truth, patriotism, and political maturity.

It is worth noting that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who has led Uganda since 1986, remains a dominant figure in the country’s political landscape. With 2026 approaching, the country enters yet another critical chapter in its democratic journey one that promises to be shaped by the voices of both seasoned leaders and a new generation of voters.
