A sea of National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporters and leaders on Sunday thronged Kiyunga Muslims Primary School Playgrounds in Kyampisi Sub-county for the latest Buganda Ku Museveni mobilization rally, a high-energy convergence aimed at reigniting grassroots support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the ruling party ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The rally was spearheaded by Hon. Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo, State Minister of Microfinance and newly elected NRM CEC Vice Chairman for Buganda, flanked by district and regional party leaders.
Kasolo’s Call For Grassroots Unity
In his address, Hon. Kasolo underscored the NRM’s record of socio-economic transformation and pledged an expanded rollout of government services. He rallied the people of Mukono to consolidate their support behind NRM leaders for continued service delivery.
“The NRM government has transformed lives through programs like Emyooga, PDM, and Women Empowerment initiatives. But this is just the beginning—there is more coming. For these programs to reach every home and every parish, you must trust and vote for NRM leaders who will work hand in hand with President Museveni,” Kasolo said.
District Leaders Highlight Gaps & Gains
NRM District Chairperson Hajji Haruna Ssemakula noted that Mukono women alone had received UGX 1.5 billion under UWEP and UGX 22.63 billion through the PDM, hailing these initiatives as life-changing. Yet, he also urged urgent attention to the persistent lack of electricity in Mpunge Sub-county.
Similarly, Kyeswa Hakim, NRM District Publicity Secretary and Head of Digital Media at the Office of the National Chairman, lamented the irony of communities within the Kampala metropolitan belt still lacking electricity. He cautioned that “presidential pledges must be respected because voters don’t forget,” while also blaming opposition dominance for the area’s weak infrastructure performance.
Nankabirwa Reassures On Service Delivery
Energy Minister Ruth Nankabirwa, the rally’s chief guest, acknowledged lingering gaps but reaffirmed government commitment to fulfill presidential pledges. She cited ongoing electrification works in Nagwejje and Seeta-Mpunge, where poles have already been erected.
“How do you leave where food is being served and go to where it is still being prepared?” she quipped, warning residents against opposition “opportunists” and urging loyalty to the ruling party.
She further emphasized President Museveni’s trust in Buganda, noting the appointment of over 14 ministers from the region, including herself, Kasolo, Aisha Ssekindi, and Amos Lugolobi.
A Broad Coalition Of Leaders
The event was attended by a wide spectrum of NRM figures from Mukono and beyond:

- Hon. Ronald Kibuule (Mukono North)

- Francis Mukoome Lukooya (District NRM Chairperson flag bearer)
Others present included Hon. Robert Migadde Ndugwa (Buvuma), Hon. Kirabo Agnes Nantongo (Luwero), Hon. Dr. Michael Bukenya Yiga (Kasanda), and Hon. Enos Asiimwe (Lyantonde).
The Buganda Ku Museveni campaign in Mukono blended praise for government achievements with candid acknowledgments of unresolved challenges. The message from the leadership was clear: while gaps in service delivery remain, the NRM remains the only viable vehicle to bridge them—anchored in Museveni’s long-standing political stewardship.
