In a powerful Independence message rooted in action and empowerment, the Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs and Manager of the Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has urged Kampala residents—especially the youth—to become active agents of change by choosing leaders who serve rather than exploit them.

Speaking during a vibrant Independence-themed cycling race in Kulambiro, Nakawa West, on Thursday, October 9, Hajjat Namyalo emphasized that Uganda’s 63 years of independence must translate into real transformation at the community level, not just political rhetoric.

“True independence means self-reliance and responsible leadership. Kampala deserves leaders who are present, practical, and people-centered—not those who only show up during elections,” she stated, drawing loud applause from the cheering crowd.

The event, which drew hundreds of young people, local leaders, and fitness enthusiasts, was organized to celebrate unity and patriotism while promoting a healthy lifestyle among city residents.

Namyalo, affectionately known as the Chief Muzzukulu, lauded the organizers for blending sports and patriotism, describing the initiative as a reflection of President Yoweri Museveni’s vision of empowering citizens through productivity and innovation.

She further challenged the youth to channel their energy into constructive activities that support national development.
“Uganda’s independence story is incomplete without the voice and effort of its young people. You must stay focused, innovative, and disciplined—because the future belongs to you,” she said.

Her message struck a deeper tone of civic responsibility, urging city dwellers to look beyond politics of handouts and instead demand performance, integrity, and service from their elected leaders.

The cycling event, marked by spirited participation, music, and celebration, symbolized a new wave of citizen engagement—where patriotism meets purpose, and independence becomes a call to action.
