Ugandan TikTok personality Timothy Kayanja, popularly known as Jayden, has died following a prolonged battle with sickle cell disease and aplastic anaemia, leaving friends, fellow content creators and thousands of his online followers mourning.
News of Jayden’s death was announced on Tuesday morning by fellow Ugandan TikToker Sheila Price, who shared the heartbreaking news with his followers.
“The sad news we just got at this moment is that Jayden has passed on. It’s such bad news,” Sheila said.
Details surrounding the exact circumstances and place of his death were not immediately available by the time of publication.
Jayden had spent much of the past year battling serious health complications associated with sickle cell disease, a condition he had lived with for about two decades.
His health struggles attracted widespread public attention in late 2025 when he appealed to Ugandans for financial support to facilitate a bone marrow transplant after his condition became increasingly complicated.
In December 2025, Jayden was rushed to TMR International Hospital in Naalya after developing severe chest pain and difficulty breathing.
Doctors reportedly diagnosed him with acute chest syndrome and a vaso-occlusive crisis, both serious complications associated with sickle cell disease. His oxygen levels had also dropped to dangerously low levels.
Doctors later discovered that his bone marrow was struggling to produce sufficient blood cells. His treatment was further complicated after hydroxyurea, a medicine commonly used in the management of sickle cell disease, was found to be suppressing his bone marrow.
He was subsequently diagnosed with aplastic anaemia, a rare but serious condition in which the bone marrow fails to produce enough red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets.
With his condition deteriorating, doctors recommended a bone marrow transplant as the most viable treatment option.
The diagnosis triggered a major fundraising campaign involving fellow content creators, friends and well-wishers, with Ugandans rallying online to help raise the money needed for his treatment.
Jayden also used his social media platforms to openly document his health journey, sharing updates about his treatment and appealing for assistance. His story attracted considerable sympathy from Ugandans both online and beyond social media.
There appeared to be renewed hope in July when Jayden underwent the much-anticipated bone marrow transplant.
On July 8, media personality Gideon Nova Kwikiriza announced that Jayden had successfully come out of theatre following the procedure and was, at the time, reported to be out of danger.
“This is to inform you all that our very own, our boy Jayden had a successful bone marrow surgery and is both out of theatre and danger,” Kwikiriza said at the time.
However, his reported death just over two months after the procedure has left his supporters devastated, bringing to an end a lengthy and highly publicised battle with serious blood-related illnesses.
Beyond his health struggles, Jayden had established himself as a popular figure on TikTok, where he entertained followers with humorous content centred on everyday Ugandan life, social experiences and cultural differences.
His journey also sparked conversations about sickle cell disease, bone marrow disorders and the financial challenges faced by patients requiring specialised medical treatment.
As news of his passing spreads, fellow content creators, friends and his online community have continued to pay tribute to the young personality, remembering him not only for his humour and creativity but also for his openness about his difficult health journey.
