Bukomansimbi District is set for a major celebration this Sunday, September 21st, as residents gather at Bulenge Playground for a thanksgiving event in honour of Hajji Shafic Mwanje, recently elected National Chairperson for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) on the ruling NRM’s Central Executive Committee (CEC).
Hajji Mwanje, who also serves as Bukomansimbi District NRM Chairperson, confirmed that the event is not just about celebration but also a demonstration of grassroots unity and political mobilization.
“This is a moment to thank God for the trust placed in me and to reaffirm our commitment to working together for the good of our district and country,” he said.
The Office of the National Chairman (ONC), where Hajji Mwanje doubles as Director of Mobilization, has thrown its weight behind the event, pledging to use it as an opportunity to empower residents — especially the youth and women — through practical support.
The day will feature prayers, music performances, and a community empowerment session led by Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, Senior Presidential Advisor and Head of ONC. During the session, start-up tools and materials will be distributed to beneficiaries to boost household incomes.
“We are coming to Bukomansimbi not just to celebrate Hajji Shafic’s victory, but to empower the people,” Hajjat Namyalo told journalists at her Kyambogo office. “Political mobilization must go hand in hand with real empowerment. That’s why we’re giving out tools that help people work and earn, not just clap for leaders.”
Items to be distributed include sewing machines, carpentry kits, hairdressing equipment, welding tools, agricultural inputs, and other livelihood-boosting packages tailored to community needs.
Hajji Mwanje praised ONC and Hajjat Namyalo for their commitment to empowerment and thanked the people of Bukomansimbi for their support:
“This victory is proof that inclusive leadership works — where people with disabilities are recognized, represented, and empowered. I pledge to serve with loyalty, humility, and focus.”
The event is also expected to double as a platform for political mobilization ahead of the 2026 general elections, with both Hajji Mwanje and Hajjat Namyalo likely to rally support for President Museveni’s candidature and the continuation of NRM leadership for peace and development.
